As an effective coalition builder with a proven track record, Jim O’Donnell of INTERFACE PERMACULTURE offers well-honed skills as a collaborative conservation and sustainable development professional. Jim possesses a Masters Degree in Community and Regional Planning and ten years of experience in natural resource management and coalition building around natural resource issues. Jim is certified in Project Management for International Development, Permaculture Design, and Proper Functioning Conditioning Assessment for Riparian Areas, with additional certifications in facilitation techniques. Since 2008, Jim has worked as a private community and green infrastructure development consultant for low-income and culturally diverse communities throughout the southwestern United States. This work resulted in the creation of “Food Forests” and edible landscapes for public spaces, community garden development for low-income community, community food security assessment, and a “green-home” design competition for low-income citizens. Jim's contracts involve comprehensive land-use planning for La Plata County, Colorado, Outstanding National Resource Waters (ONRW) designations for New Mexico headwaters and Geotourism planning with the National Geographic Society and the USDA Forest Service in addition to his private Permaculture design clients. This summer (2011), Jim will begin work on an agroforestry project in the Deslandes area of Haiti. Jim volunteers on the the Valle Vidal stream restoration team, the Albuquerque Wildlife Federation restoration team and the Board of Directors for the Green Infrastructure Foundation.
